STS Fieldnotes is an independent bilingual digital publication about the changing relations between science, technology, and society.

We study how knowledge is made, how technical systems distribute power, and how both become ordinary parts of daily life.

Our work begins with fieldwork, archives, and public arguments, following technology through institutions, labor, environments, and expertise.

Verifiable inquiry that distinguishes evidence, interpretation, and commentary, with transparent revisions when they are needed.

AI and labor, platforms and public life, infrastructure and environment, and the politics of knowledge and expertise.

Long-form research, short fieldnotes, and video essays; each format is chosen to serve the evidence and argument.

English is the default editorial language and Simplified Chinese is a first-class publishing language. Missing translations are never fabricated.
